Edit column

All your data is sorted into a grid of columns and rows. Not only can you edit the data in the grid, but you can also change the properties of the grid itself such as the type of data in each column and the names of columns.

Editing data is not possible for charts that have the auto update option turned on.

Change column name

  1. Open the chart you want to edit.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Edit
  3. In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
  4. Double click on column header. or
Next to the column name, click the more icon  and click Edit column.
  5. Click the Column field to edit name.
  6. Click SAVE.

Set column data type

There are three types of data you can set for each column of the data: text, number, date.

Set column data type in Chart wizard

After uploading data, Charts will identify data type for all columns in dataset, but you can change column data type during data review.

  1. Below column name, click  to access the dropdown menu.
  2. Choose data type you want to assign to column.

Set column data type in data grid

  1. Open the chart you want to edit.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Edit
  3. In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
  4. Double click on column header or
Next to column name click the more icon  and click Edit column.
  5. Select new data type from the Data type dropdown.
  6. Click SAVE.

Converting data type may clear some cell data. This cannot be undone.

Set default column value option

In addition to importing data, Charts allows you to manually enter data as well. This can become quite strenuous, especially when dealing with larger datasets or identical values. When dealing with values that are identical, Default value comes in handy. Here's how to avoid adding the same value multiple times.

Set default value for new columns

  1. Open the chart you want to edit.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Edit
  3. In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
  4. Go to the last column.
  5. Next to last column click +.
  6. In the Default value field, enter the value you want to be added to all new rows in that column.

The default value will be added to all the rows in the new column.

Set default value for existing columns

When setting default values for existing columns, bear in mind that the default value will be added only to the rows you add after you set the default value. All rows you added before setting the default value, even if blank, will remain unchanged.

  1. Open the chart you want to edit.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Edit.
  3. In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
  4. Go to the column you want to edit and click the more icon .
  5. Click Edit column.
  6. In the Default value field, enter the value you want to be added to all new rows in that column.

Duplicate column

All your data is sorted in a grid of columns and rows. Of course, you can customize the data in the existing columns and rows, but you can also edit the columns and rows.

  1. Open the chart you want to edit.
  2. In the upper-right corner, click Edit.
  3. In the bottom-right corner, click DATA.
  4. Next to the name of the column you want to duplicate, click the more icon .
  5. Click Duplicate.

To rename the column you duplicated, click the more icon next to its name, select Edit Column, or double-click the column name. Then, enter the new name under Column, and hit Save.

Duplicated column will not be automatically plotted as a series in your chart. Instead, you will need to add it manually
